Shana Festa grew up in the small town of Northborough Massachusetts. As an impressionable tike, she shared in her father's love for Horror, and spent most of her childhood hiding under the blankets worrying what nightmarish creature lurked in her closet. She grew up on a healthy diet of classics like Nightmare on Elm Street, Return of the Living Dead, American Werewolf in London, Child’s Play and Poltergeist.
Her writing career was born from her long-time addiction to terrifying tales. Under her alter ego, The Bookie Monster, Shana reviews horror and paranormal books, with an emphasis on zombie fiction. Her altruistic beliefs fuse seamlessly with The Bookie Monster's mission to provide readers with honest reviews and to provide authors with a platform to promote their labors of love.
Shana holds a degree in nursing and now resides in Cape Coral, Florida with her husband and two adorable dogs. In addition to her apocalyptic series, TIME OF DEATH, she is a founding member of AT HELL'S GATES, a horror anthology series dedicated to supporting the brave men and women of our Armed Forces through the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

Shana Festa Interview
What do you do when you’re not writing about the end of days?
I am a registered nurse. I made the move from psych to nursing informatics in 2013 and love that I get to use my degree and my love for technology and data. Also in 2013, my alter ego, The Bookie Monster was formed. TBM provides a platform for both the reading and writing communities. We give honest, unbiased opinions of horror and dark fiction titles, and provide authors a platform to share their work.

Title: Time of Death: Induction
Brief run down in your own words
The zombie apocalypse has never been snarkier! Think Janet Evanovich meets The Walking Dead. (Available Now)
Anything in particular that you want to say about it? Where did you get the inspiration from? Favourite characters? Tell us something unusual.
I am a total dog nut. Anyone that's read Induction will tell you, Daphne steals the spotlight from my main character, Emma. I do indeed have my own Daphne, and I promise…she is written true to life. Many readers enjoy the realism I've injected into my writing. My main character is inspired by my personality and experiences. (Sadly, chapter one, Code Brown, really happened!) And most secondary characters are based of the important people in my life.
What are you working on next and when can we expect to get our greedy little mitts on it?

Officer Donnelly, according to the name badge located over his left breast pocket, pulled himself together and said, “You need to get somewhere safe. The main parts of town have been overrun with…whatever this is.” He waved his gun hand in the direction of the dead body. “Stay inside, lock your doors and do not open them for anyone. And if you can’t stay hidden, if they get in, get in your car and drive.”

Coffin Hop 2014
COFFIN HOP is the annual Horror Author event, geared towards gaining exposure for indie horror and genre authors, and increasing interaction with fans and readers. Conceived in 2011 by authors Axel Howerton and Julie Jansen, COFFIN HOP was initially intended to be a small answer to the proliferation of author blog hops for Romance, Erotica and other genres while noticing a dearth of well-organized, high profile events for horror writers.
So after checking out this years Week of the Undead blogs, use this handy link (below) to hop on over to another blog and see what they have in store for you!

The Orphans Excerpt
Tina smiled uneasily. "Yeah, you're pretty much sending him to his death. I don't get what could have happened to have something like this spread so quickly!"
Greg opened his mouth to respond when one of the Turned walked by the car, sniffing and looking directly into the window. It banged its head into the driver's side window and continued until it smashed its head through it, shattering the glass. Greg kicked at the thing's head until it disappeared, coming back within seconds to put a hand through the window and pulling the door from its frame. "Whoa! She just ripped the door off!"
The door might as well have been a toy as the creature flung it away and came running directly for them with arms outstretched.
Greg didn't hesitate. He grabbed the shotgun and pulled the trigger. The slug entered its already exploded heart, and put it to the ground five feet back. Greg sat up looking at Tina. "I did it! I killed it! Let's get out of here!"
Tina looked beyond Greg in fear, pointing, her lips quivering. Greg turned around just in time as he saw it get back on its feet. Blood and drool was dripping from its mouth, swaying in strings from side to side. The guts were making their way out the front and the back of the hole that the slug had made. He aimed again, pulled the trigger, and sent a twelve-gauge steel slug through its head, tearing half of it off and hitting it like a tornado, spinning the monster around wildly. It landed on the ground. The side of its head he'd blown off was spinning in place. Tina tried to scramble out, but Greg held her by the shoulder. "Wait just a moment. Let's make sure."
Tina did not fight him. When the creature did not rise a second time, they exited the car, looking around. The creatures which used to be the girls volleyball team were everywhere like a plague. The victims of recent past were coming to and walking around, eating pieces of their skin from their arms. They were sloppily covered by their own blood and guts, walking slowly, sniffing, looking for fresh meat.

Limerence II is finally here, the long awaited sequel to my publishing debut almost two years ago. Gah! I know, I know, don't hate me. It's been a very long journey for me. I wasn't sure that I would ever get to this stage--publishing book two. The truth is i was pretty scared to. Since writing the first book I've learnt so much more, I've developed my style and tastes, and so writing book two felt like a step backwards, not forwards.
However, Mia needed her story to be told, and those wonderful hardcore fans of mine wouldn't let me leave her stranded in-between books, so I did a little soul-searching, and finally sat down and wrote Limerence II. I also had the original book completely re-edited and I re-wrote a lot of it, adding in sections, taking out sections, it was a lot of work, BUT the book, and the series is so much better for it.
So today Limerence II was published, and I'm immensely proud of it. It's much stronger than the original book, and in some ways a lot different, and I can't wait to hear what you all think.

Big love, and thanks for staying with me on this crazy-ass journey!
Two days to go! Eeeek!
I'm really excited to bring this book to you, it's been an incredibly difficult one to write, for several reasons, and I'm so proud that it's nearly ready to share with you all.
So, here's the Limerence 2 trailer.
Watch it, and let me know what you think. It gives me goosebumps!
Don't forget to add it to your Goodreads shelves!
Happy reading book whores!!!
