Author spotlight on Amalie Silver and her new release Word Play!

Today I want to introduce you to someone very special to me. Someone that has been there with me through all my publishing highs and lows, and someone that I know that I can always turn to.
Sometimes back in 2013, before I published my first novel Limerence, I was on a critique site called Authonomy. I chanced upon a story one day that moved me. The writing was raw and gritty, and so beautifully honest that I reached out to the author, and so began a friendship with one of the nicest women that I could ask to meet.
She's ballsy and brave- though she doesn't believe it, she's witty and clever, and the way she writes is so refreshing. She tackles stories that others may not dare to, and pushes those boundaries, continually taking risks, and the whole damn time she's scared shitless, but she does it. And that's just one of the many reasons she's my hero.
She doesn't do these things to shock readers, she does it because she's honest and quite frankly, fucking brilliant, and I'm continually in awe of her.
How could I not be?
She writes honestly and openly, she helps pretty much anyone she meets, and she's charming as hell...even with her dirty potty mouth! (But maybe that's why we get along so well? haha)
I've the beautiful acknowledgements that she left for me in her book- and yes, I may have cried my face off at them!

Being an author is amazing, truly amazing. To be able to put words on paper and have people love them is the greatest feeling, but it can also be tough. Everyone has different opinions, and people can be brutal, and if you don't have a thick skin in this business then that shit can sting!
So, I'll say this...
Amalie, my lovely friend, this book is brilliant, but I'll be the thick skin you need when you can't take it, doll. xx

       “Look, I’m not saying I look like a catfish or anything, but have you fuckingseen him? He’s the kind of guy who makes Channing Fuck-My-Face Tatum dancing to Pony in Magic Mike look like an incompetent and ungraceful slouch. Not to mention the way he writes sex scenes. It’s just a little bit intimidating knowing what he’s capable of putting on paper. I’m pretty sure I’m no Jasmine.”

       “Channing Tatum writes sex scenes?” Monica asked, trying to hide her smirk. After letting out a hearty chuckle, we both plopped down on the couch.

“I should certainly hope you’re not Jasmine. She was a whiney, annoying, sex-addicted cocktease. I can’t stand heroines like her,” she began, elbowing my arm. “Let’s look at this like the two rational book addicts that we are, shall we? For starters, you’re the perfect heroine for this story…”

       I rolled my eyes. Everything was always a book for Monica.

       “You’re young, sexy, smart, and funny. You don’t have any psychological issues that I know of. You don’t have a recent breakup or emotional scars to tend to. And you don’t have a job on the other side of the country that could keep you away from him. Your parents aren’t rivals. There isn’t an age difference, or any other way to make this story forbidden. You’re not married. You don’t plan to travel around the country on the back of a motorcycle and he’s not a vampire that sparkles . . .” She paused, lifting her eyebrows for my confirmation.

       I shook my head. “Not that I’m aware of.”

       “See! There’s no baggage with this one!”

       “Except a relationship that’s entirely based on lies. You forgot about that.”

       “Okay. So there’s that. But those always end up in a happily ever afteranyway! Besides, we’re not talking about marrying the guy. We’re talking about a night in the sack. A very long, sensuous, romp between the sheets with a man who has a cock the size of a kielbasa.”

       I rolled my eyes. “You read Tammie’s post? Did she really write kielbasa?”

       “I can’t remember. It was some variety of summer sausage."
